About me
I am Nadja.
This is where I come from
Germany is where my roots are, Patagonia is where my heart is, and the world is where I opened my vision to a bigger picture. Traveling is in my blood and being immersed throughout the years in different cultures has opened my mind and heart. I have lived and taught in many places. Living and evolving in community means everything to me.
Having a master's degree in Organic Agriculture and working in combatting climate change for many years, yoga was a continuation of the path I went on long before. Yoga showed me the darkest sides of myself. Exactly at that point, I found Jivamukti Yoga: When the student is ready the teacher appears. I remember my first Jivamukti class in Berlin with Anja Kuehnel very well. As she started to chant a mantra at the beginning of class, at this moment I decided to never come back again. I thought I am in the middle of something very strange. After class, I scheduled a class for the following day. Ever since I was drawn to Jivamukti Yoga (and chanting!).
Jivamukti Yoga
Jivamukti is my lineage. This is the method I practice and teach. Jivamukti Yoga, for me, is the perfect combination of creativity and structure; traditional spiritual roots in a modern context, which is why I love it.
I am devoted to my teachers Sharon Gannon & David Life and feel honored to call myself an Advanced Jivamukti Yoga Teacher. I have had the privilege of studying with many amazing teachers: Sharon Gannon and David Life, Olga Oskorbina, Jules Febre, Yogeswari, Lady Ruth, Karina Gusalova, Maria Macaya, Magali Lehners, Alexandra Colombo, Moritz Ulrich, and Doug Whittaker.
I believe that the practice of yoga is a place for individual growth and acceptance by bringing together different people with a common ground. Being together in this space generates an overwhelming feeling of unity that we so often miss in our everyday life. Holding space for this and whatever unfolds is the magic of yoga.
I have been taught to teach the kind of class that I would like to attend. Therefore, when you attend my classes, you will experience elements of pranayama and asana, music and meditation as well as hands-on assists reflecting knowledge of physical and subtle body anatomy.
My passion lies in creating an experience where spiritual teachings are integrated with asana. I'm interested in making the yogic scriptures engaging, accessible, and relevant to our modern life, without diluting the substance of the teachings. Music has an essential role in my classes and I love to create a playlist that echoes the theme of the class. On top, I think it is most important to have fun, so I might try out some terrible jokes in order to make you laugh.
